BEFORE AN EMERGENCY Tab

     This section is where a lot of time should be spent researching and reflecting on the specific emergencies you may be at risk of experiencing in your area and then most importantly taking direct ACTIONS to become more prepared for those scenarios. Research and accumulating knowledge don't do us much good if we don't take meaningful action based on that knowledge. 

    What are your potential risks? What can you do to be more prepared in those areas? Where are your gas, electric and water shut offs? When are you supposed to shut off utilities? When is it not safe to light candles? When and where should you evacuate? How can you better secure your home? Etc...

SCENARIO TO CONSIDER: DAM FAILURE & FLOOD ZONES

    I’m sure many of us have looked up at the Castaic Lake Dam and wondered what would happen if it failed. Could an earthquake take it out? Could age, wear, and tear or poor engineering eventually cause it to fail? Could flooding overwhelm it like the Oroville Dam in 2017? The answer is sadly "yes," to all of the above. It can fail.
